Project Highlights: The New York State Thruway Authority retained M.G. Mclaren Engineering and Land Surveying, P.C. to provide bridge, highway, and drainage design along with surveying services for the Replacement of the Scotland Hill Road and College Road Bridges. The original structures, built in the 1950s, were at the end of their service life and were replaced with new structures which include numerous upgrades to enhance safety for motorists and pedestrians.
A major component of the project was enhancing the bridge’s safety measures which included increasing the vertical clearance of the bridges to an industry standard of 16’6″, a 34′ roadway width with wider shoulders and approaches, and new sign structures.
A. Servidone, lnc./B. Anthony Construction Group JV, of Castleton, NY, was the contractor for the construction of the bridges. The project was completed on time and within budget.
